In the first century, Jesus of Nazareth traveled throughout Galilee and Judea preaching the good news that the kingdom of God had arrived (Mark 1:15). In other words, God’s goodness and power had begun breaking into this world in a new and life-giving way, bringing hope, healing, forgiveness and peace to all people.
Jesus’ message is that, in and through himself, God’s kingdom will bring healing to a sick world, forgiveness to sinners, and justice to the poor and oppressed (Luke 4:16-18).
As a part of the Church, we believe God has called us to share, live out, and grow in our faith and understanding of this good news as we wait for the day when God’s kingdom is finally fulfilled.
The Way of Jesus
Jesus called himself “The Way” (John 14:6) and the earliest Christians were known as “followers of The Way” (Acts 9:2; 24:14). As followers of Jesus, we believe we are called to be a people on the move, following Jesus to learn from him the ways of forgiveness, patience, generosity, and love, and striving for the day when God’s kingdom will be made fully known on earth as it is in heaven.
